Tonight at White Rabbit, Berlin, there is the finissage of the "From the Safran House" - show. MAURIZIO RAVALICO will do a SOLO PERCUSSION. London-based Maurizio Ravalico has toured and recorded with Jamiroquai, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Dego McFarland, Finn Peters, Jesus Alemani and many others. He is nowadays one of the driving forces of Not Applicable, a label and a group of musicians, composers, visual artists and filmakers spread between London and Berlin. Tonight he will play an entirely acoustic set of solo percussion instruments and found objects, revealing his visionary and extreme approach to music in its barest and most intimate form.
and the top-5 list of things i missed in 2009:
1/ Pierres Rejetées by Jimmy Durham in Paris. (audio review in dutch)
2/ Exile on Main St, BonnefantenMuseum, Maastricht.
3/ Isa Genzken Open Sesame in Whitechapel in London
4/ Martin Kippenberger The Problem Perspective, Moma, New York.
5/ "Who's Afraid of Jasper Johns?" Tony Shafrazi Gallery (infact this was 2008, but still a great show made by Urs Fischer & Gavin Brown)
